Comedian Aida Rodriguez is set to star opposite Alycia Pascual-Peña (Bel-Air) in Hurricane Seasons, a new indie dramedy from director Nicole Gomez Fisher (Good Egg).

Set to shoot in New York this month, and in Puerto Rico later this year, the film takes place in the aftermath of a hurricane, as a Brooklyn artist (Rodriguez) and her daughter (Pascual-Peña) embark on a last-wish road trip across Puerto Rico with their terminally ill matriarch – only to uncover deep family secrets and the adventurous side of the ‘Abuela’ everyone thought they knew.

Penned by first-time feature writer Xavier Ortiz, the film is Gomez Fisher’s third behind the camera, following Good Egg and Sleeping with the Fishes. Elvis Nolasco (Godfather of Harlem) and Jerry Minor (Abbott Elementary) co-star.

Producers on the project include Gomez Fisher, Ortiz, Rodriguez, Anthony James Faure, and Nadia Barbarossa. Production in Puerto Rico takes place as part of the territory’s Department of Economic Development & Commerce’s film tax incentive program, administered by the Puerto Rican Film Commission.

Getting her start in comedy as a finalist on NBC’s Last Comic Standing, Rodriguez was subsequently handpicked by Tiffany Haddish to feature in Tiffany Haddish Presents: They Ready, her Netflix anthology of half-hour stand-up sets. Her comedy special, Aida Rodriguez: Fighting Words, debuted on HBO Max in 2021. She is repped by Buchwald, OPE Partners, and Cohen & Gardner.

Gomez Fisher is represented by Sloss Eckhouse Dasti Haynes LawCo; Nolasco by Ethos Entertainment; and Minor by Levity Entertainment Group and Lichter, Grossman, Nichols.
