Chicago native Lil Rel Howery — the comedian, actor, writer, and producer best known for his breakout role in “Get Out” and his self-titled Fox sitcom “Rel” — is stopping by to talk about the biggest leap of his career yet: directing.
His grassroots, independently made horror-comedy “Haunted Heist” marks his directorial debut and hits theaters July 24. The film follows a group of estranged friends thrown back together under wild, supernatural circumstances, blending laughs and scares with a heartfelt message about the people who help us through life’s hardest moments.
Howery stars alongside a stacked ensemble including Tiffany Haddish, Andrew “King Bach” Bachelor, Karlous Miller, Brett Gelman, and Ari Dayan — and he’s here to tell us what it took to bring this passion project to life, shot right in Detroit.
