Halifax’s Pardis Parker received four Canadian Comedy Award nominations Tuesday.

The director, writer, actor and comedian received nods for best standup newcomer, best performance by a male in a film and best writing for a film (Afghan) and best direction of a film (Two Men, Two Cows, Two Guns).

Halifax comedy troupe Picnicface was nominated for best sketch troupe and for the web clip The Button.

This Hour Has 22 Minutes cast members received several nominations. Gavin Crawford was nominated for performance by a male on television. Geri Hall was nominated for performance by a female on television, and Crawford, Hall, Mark Critch, Cathy Jones and Shaun Majumder were nominated for performance by an ensemble on television.

Former 22 Minutes correspondent Nathan Fielder, whose film Love and Cameras in America won the Rex Tasker Documentary Award at the 2009 Atlantic Film Festival, was nominated along with Levi MacDougall for writing on a television program or series for Important Things with Demetri Martin.

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in Toronto in October.

This is the first time Parker has been nominated for the awards.

"It’s heartwarming," he said in a news release. "It makes you feel as if you’re headed in the right direction, especially when it’s the industry’s elder statesmen who are selecting you."

Picnicface includes Andrew Bush, Kyle Dooley, Cheryl Hann, Mark Little, Brian MacQuarrie, Evany Rosen, Scott Vrooman and Bill Wood.
