Malick to Star, Exec Produce 'Annie' Telepic Set for Hallmark Movie Channel

Wendie Malick is set to star and exec produce original telepic "Wild Horse Annie" for Hallmark Movie Channel.

Pic, skedded for a summer 2012 release, is adapted from a portion of author Deanne Stillman's tome "Mustang: The Saga of the Wild Horse in the American West" and examines the life of animal-rights activist Velma Johnston, who helped save the lives of hundreds of equines.

Jerry Wingfield will write the script while Stillman will produce.

Said Malick, currently co-starring in TV Land hit "Hot in Cleveland": "Despite physical and emotional challenges, Johnston committed her life to getting federal protection for our wild horses and burros, saving them from cruel roundups and barbaric slaughter."
